Abstract :
The results on accurate measurement of the absolute frequency of the 87Rb hyperfine ground-state transition in the NPL Rb fountain frequency standard is presented.To decrease the density-dependent shifts by an order of magnitude, it is proposed to operate the fountain in the velocity-chirped quasi-continuous regime, which combines the ideas of the juggling and the quasi- continuous fountains.
