Abstract :
A computer-aided design procedure has been produced which enables circulator parameters to be calculated. The main input parameters are frequency range, ferrite saturation magnetisation and dielectric constant and the dielectric constant of the material surrounding the ferrite. An optimisation routine calculates the ferrite radius and coupling angle in order to maximise performance over the given band. S-parameter data files are generated which are compatible for inclusion as user defined elements within circuit files of both Super Compact and Touchstone. This enables the overall circulator design, including suitable matching elements connected to the junction ports, to be completed
