Abstract :
A method of antenna pattern synthesis which offers an improved approach to sampling methods is investigated herein. An alternative to the 
sampling function used in Woodward-Lawson synthesis is suggested, with the result that an additional element of control is available in design by synthesis for array antennas. Examples of sector beam synthesis illustrate the effectiveness of the approach.
