  • Abstract
In this talk, our recent R&D activities a green, elastic next-generation (NG) access network based upon coherent interleaved-frequency division multiple access (IFDMA), a special class of OFDMA will be presented. Conventional OFDMA systems require power-consuming IFFT in the transmitter. It will be shown that “Green” can be realized in the generation of IFDMA signals by replacing the IFFT circuit with a simplified subcarrier mapping circuit. “Elastic” bandwidth provisioning will be demonstrated by the uplink experiment of dynamic allocation on-demand of 20 Gbps-QPSK and 30 Gbps-8 PSK signals to two ONUs. In addition, the carrier synchronization technique of the uplink between multiple ONUs by using DSP-based low-complexity carrier frequency offset (CFO) pre-compensation will be discussed.
