Abstract :
The paper outlines the military requirement for messaging services in terms of the range of applications and the environments in which they have to work; identifies the advantages and disadvantages of basing the solutions to these requirements on X.400; and describes the work of MOD and NATO in developing military standards based on the X.400 standards
