Abstract
There has been a critical situation with electricity supply of first aid departments in many hospitals leading to six incidents with a tragic outcome. The number of the electric power switching-off, complicating doctors´ work under conditions of rendering of emergency help to the patients, is tens and hundreds times more than mentioned above. Therefore, in conditions of poor quality and reliability of existing electric systems, it is necessary to have a system of uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) in each emergency first-aid hospital department to maintain the independence from casual circumstances, acts of nature etc. The difference between on-line and off-line UPS are briefly outlined and their application to hospitals discussed
