Abstract
As with any business communication in one´s own language, planning ahead is the key to success. When one is working in a foreign language, it is even more crucial as one is generally less able to improvise. Here, the author recommends the APPLE mnemonic as a standard tool for any event, but emphasises today the foreign language elements for each stage: A for anticipate; P for prepare; P for practice; L for look and listen; and E for enjoy yourself
