Abstract :
The BT Microterminal (μT) experiment aims to demonstrate some of the maturing Ka-band technologies applicable to small communications terminals. It will support duplex voice and data communications using a compact transceiver. To emphasize the equipment miniaturization which is possible at Ka-band, the μT is housed in a conventional briefcase. The BT project was frozen when the ESA OLYMPUS satellite went off-station in May 1991 and the work has not been completed. The author gives an overview of the existing μT hardware
