Abstract :
Experimental data on satellite paths are required to develop prediction methods in Europe for the 20 to 50 GHz bands for both civil and military satellite systems. The OLYMPUS satellite provides a unique opportunity to study the slant path propagation characteristics for satellite systems across Europe, and to produce engineering data of direct relevance to satellite systems planning for the 20/30 GHz satellite bands. This project will assist in the study of physical mechanisms such as attenuation and cross-polar coupling. Reception of beacons 20, 40 and 50 GHz from the ITALSAT satellite (launched in January 1991) is also planned for 1992
