A review of system performance requirements for phased array antennas

Provides a summary and an overview of the systems issues, applications and key performance drivers for phased array antennas in radar, electronic warfare (EW) and communications systems. As it is probably universally true that, at least until now, radar systems, and in particular defence radars, have been the primary application of phased arrays, the paper treats that application as the priority. It is hoped that it will serve as a framework and relevant introduction to the topic of phased arrays
