Abstract
This paper is to propose to combine the granular computing into the cognitive model GOMS (Goals-Operators-Methods-Selection) to design the HCI (human-computer interactions/interfaces). The principles of GOMS and its related cognitive models are introduced, and granular computing as a problem-solving strategy is presented. The focus will be on the application of granular computing in the GMOS model, especially for the user´s goals and operators granulation. The selection rules of the GOMS model can be utilized to search methods from the AND-OR tree generated by the granular computing. An example is illustrated to demonstrate how the combination of the GOMS model with granular computing works.
