Abstract
VLSI technology has had a profound influence on the development of computing systems over the past decade. The Eurochip project was therefore welcomed by the computer science department at Manchester University as an opportunity to develop new courses in VLSI design which would give students the opportunity to become involved in the design of systems on silicon. The teaching of VLSI design within the department, aimed at three different groups of students, is described
