  • Abstract
The performance of railway mobile communication system (RMCS) is important for the safety of railway system. With the development of high speed railway, high speed brings many challenges to RMCS. Transmission interference is an important quality of service (QoS) indicator of train control data transmission services which will be impacted by increased speed. This paper analyzes the effect of speed on the performance of transmission interference which comes from two aspects: fading channel variability and handover behavior. To clarify the effect clearly, transmission interference indicator and handover time in a RMCS is measured with different speed. According to the measurement results, we found handover behavior is the principal cause of transmission interference. Therefore, a design method of transmission interference requirement based on handover time is proposed which is use to design transmission interference requirement in different railway transportation system.
