Abstract :
This paper will review selected infrared detectors which offer (or have the potential to offer) the best signal-to-noise ratio achievable for some application. It is not, therefore, the intent to exhaustively review all types of infrared detectors. Future directions for progress in infrared detector performance will be covered.
