  • Abstract
According to the J2EE criteria, a framework based on the middleware technique and model-view controller (MVC) design pattern are introduced to establish a flood control system in a Web domain which are flexible enough for future extension, algorithm improvement and upgrade with new hydrologic models. The Xinanjiang and the tank models are adopted as the hydrological models to investigate the applicability of the proposed technology. Components for a flood forecasting system based on the Xinanjiang and the tank models were developed under an IE browser. The forecasting system was tested in a small watershed and it is indicates that the Xinanjiang model performed better than the tank model
