Abstract :
This paper addresses the issue of the impact on the tracking performance of either a second order Costas loop or a phase locked loop (PLL) when tracking a BPSK signal in the presence of noise and signal blanking. Three cases are considered: no blanking, periodic blanking, and random blanking of the signal input to the receiver. The results apply to any code such as the C/A, P(Y) or the M code, since this simulation assumed a perfect despreading of the code prior to the tracking loop and assumed that the code loop threshold occurs below the carrier loop threshold
