Abstract
In order to accelerate the development of renewable energies and to optimize the accommodation of the 10 GW-level Jiuquan wind power, the vision of a strong and smart grid with Gansu characteristics to accommodate large-scale wind power is articulated through the analysis of the conditions of the wind power base, the transmission grid, the DR and other related technologies. A strong EHV/UHV transmission grid, the aggregation of large scale wind and solar power, the incorporation of wind and solar power forecasts with the utility operation, and DR mechanisms will help to integrate large scale renewable energies into Gansu Grid to ensure reliable, safe, clean, sustainable and affordable electric power supply.
