Abstract
The Department of Power Engineering at the Vaal University of Technology admits a large number of students in their first year of study. The problem arises when students enroll for their practical sessions in the engineering laboratories. It is quite easy to mismanage or loose the practical marks of the students in the process. Not only is this a challenge, there are also large volumes of paper that are wasted. Moreover, this is a time consuming and tedious exercise. The solution to this problem was developed and implemented, using software-engineering techniques. This work elaborates on the design, development and implementation of this solution at the Department of Power Engineering.
