Abstract :
The addition of placement primitives to the hardware description language model allows description of the topological aspects of a design. Basic parametrical cells (buffers, aoi, . . .), regular operators (ROM, RAM . . .), data-paths and floor planning can be achieved thanks to the power of expression of the language and to the integrated data-path compiler. This software offers a complete environment for the development of generators. It fulfils completely the requirements for silicon compilation from a structural description to layout. It offers interfaces with simulation environments (transistor and gate-level) and requires few computing resources. It is also very interesting to use for teaching purposes
