Abstract :
A new concept for a multi-band phased-array element is presented. A planar, pin-fed antenna element which is able to operate in both L- and S-bands is introduced. Due to its compact size the element is suitable for wide-angle scanning at both S-band and L-band. It is demonstrated with full-wave simulation that the element has symmetric radiation pattern, sufficient gain and good polarization purity. The applicability of the element in a periodic array is also emphasized in this article.
