Abstract :
In the industry, requirements analysis often translates to answering the question `Can our product meet the needs of this client?´ This is a high payoff problem for the use of knowledge-based approaches. But there are several problems in applying the available approaches for building tools in this context. The authors systematically analyze these problems and develop an approach that has significant advantages for use in this context. They present the details of their approach, and discuss how they have applied it for building ASTRA, a knowledge-based tool that can perform requirements analysis in the car rental management domain. They establish the significance of the work and outline directions for future work
