Abstract :
Displaced phase center antennas with adaptive nulling capability are sometimes suggested for airborne radar applications requiring cancellation of clutter and interference. A theoretical model is developed for analyzing a linear array having two independent beamformers, which is subjected to near-field or far-field clutter and interference. Both clutter and interference are modeled using discrete noise sources. It is demonstrated that an adaptive array cancels such near field and far field sources in a nearly equivalent manner.
