Abstract :
A finite element time domain formulation in terms of the scattered electric field is presented and employed to model plane wave scattering from a cylinder with angular periodicity. Only a single unit cell needs to be modelled using this formulation. To demonstrate the accuracy of this formulation, its results are compared with analytical and finite element frequency domain results for the case of a perfectly electrically conducting cylinder of circular cross-section.
