Abstract
Intranets are a growing phenomena. The term was coined towards the end of 1995, to describe the uptake of standard Internet tools and services, internally within corporations. Its interpretation has been its biggest problem, meaning anything from a single internal web site to a strategy for all internal IT systems. The paper discusses the growth and success of Intranets. It considers applications on the BBC Intranet, including groupware and workflow systems
