  • Abstract
The 1000 hours accelerated salt-fog ageing test has been used to determine the change of the hydrophobicity of HTV silicone rubber composite insulators by measuring the surface leakage current and observing the state of water repellency on the shed surface. The measured surface leakage current throughout the 1000 hours test is shown in the text. The leakage current was found to increase gradually from 10 -5 A to 10-2 A. It was found that the degradation process of HTV silicone rubber composite insulators could be divided into four stages according to its surface leakage current, and each stage corresponds to different water repellent states of its shed surface
