This paper gives details of the use of the simultaneous thermal and infrared analysis (TGA/IR) technique as part of the assessment of the degradation of an unsaturated polyester resin used in long term electrical breakdown tests. Results are presented showing the correlation between weight loss, temperature and chemical species
