Abstract
Maxwell is a comprehensive package of computer programs for modelling electromagnetic field problems by using the finite element method. It consists of an input module called Meshmaker for specifying the problem geometry and for creating the finite element mesh and a number of solution modules for solving for the propagation and radiation characteristics of transmission lines, waveguides, planar circuits, and antennas. It has been used with the IBM PC and the HP Bobcat in various forms in six undergraduate classes to aid in understanding fields.
