Abstract :
This paper proposes utilization of base station cooperation (BSC) in multiantenna cellular system under the situation with defect cells, namely, BSs in some cells are damaged and not working. The background idea is that user terminals (UTs) in defect cells might use a weak connection with adjacent cells, but the communication quality could be improved by cooperative transmission/reception of BSs mutually connected in backhaul. Here we make quantitative evaluation of BSC effect by computer simulations assuming two kinds of cell patterns with out-of-service BSs. The results show that BSC is effective to improve the performance degradation in defect cells.
