Abstract :
Discusses a method of applying computers for the purpose of estimating the exploitation time of HV insulators in polluted areas. A numerical program forms the basis for simulated investigations and conditions the design of HV insulators; the pollution resistance of overhead HV insulators in changing conditions of exploitation is evaluated. The introduction of generators of changeable random parameters into the OZIWN program will make it possible to explain the effect of environmental parameters (exposure to pollution and meteorological influences) as well as voltage exposure in the mechanism of the formation of a pollution layer and the mechanism of changes in the electric strength at the insulator surface
