Abstract :
In this paper, we present a sectoral antenna with eight independent beams in the azimuth plane. The antenna is composed of eight patch antennas arranged on an octagonal structure. The patch antennas are covered by two layers of Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) in order to form Electronic Band Gap (EBG) cavities. The simplicity of the feeding structure is the main advantage of this antenna, indeed there is only one excited patch at the same time. Several simulations have been performed to optimize the realized gain of the structure. The antenna is designed around the frequency of 4.7GHz. The expected characteristics of the antenna are: a gain higher than 15dBi, a scanning angle equal to 45° (eight beams).
