Abstract
Dielectric measurements on blends of a thermotropic main chain liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) and an isotropic thermoplastic polymer (TP) have been carried out. Melt blending of LCPs with thermoplastic polymers often results in fibre forming of the minor LCP component during processing and hence gives a `in situ´ improvement of the mechanical properties. LCP/TP blends are therefore called self-reinforcing. The miscibility plays an important role in both the fibre formation and the improvement in mechanical properties
