Abstract
The effect of electrode surface roughness formed in the machining process can be predicted for SF6, SF6/N2 and SF6/CO2 by computations using a multi-ridge surface roughness model. The breakdown strength of SF6 gas remains higher than that of the SF6 /N2 and SF6/CO2 mixtures (50/50) even when PR is as great as 40 kPa·mm. Only in the case of having a single large protrusion can the breakdown strength of the SF6 /CO2 mixture be slightly higher than that of SF6 gas
