Abstract :
This paper presents a new method to enhance transient stability of a power system including wind farm, when a severe disturbance occurs in the power system. For this purpose, the Energy Capacitor System (ECS) is used. ECS can improve transient stability because of its ability on control active and reactive power. A new control scheme based on PI controller and repetitive controller is proposed for transient stability enhancement. Real wind speed data are used in the analyses to obtain realistic responses. Simulation results clearly show that the proposed ECS can enhance the transient stability of wind generators in power system as well as their low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability.
