Abstract :
Evaluating the harmonic distortion in both current and voltage waveforms is essential for an accurate active power measurement in a nonsinusoidal environment. A DSP based instrumentation system for active measurement has been developed. Goertzel algorithm is used to evaluate the power at each harmonic. Computer simulation and laboratory experiments are used to show the significance of the developed system. The results obtained confirmed that this system provides a more precise measurement of active power compared to a conventional analog wattmeter in a nonsinusoidal environment
