Abstract :
A system for tracking the flow of work in progress (WIP) through the manufacturing floor is described. The tracking system is based on the double-entry bookkeeping concept and has been designed to require relatively little data entry. It also does not require batch integrity, thus making it ideal for high-volume just-in-time manufacturing. The implementation strategy and experiences with the system are discussed. The current status of the system and plans for the future are considered
