Abstract :
We report on the application of a fast physical random bit generator based on chaotic semiconductor lasers to generation of random pulse sequences at 1.0 Gpps (giga pulses per second) in a quantum key distribution system. We generate a random binary signal at 1.0 Gbps and use it to modulate the phase of optical pulses transmitted in the differential-phase-shift quantum-key-distribution (DPS-QKD) scheme.
