Abstract :
New coatings designed for aircraft lightning protection have been studied from an electrical point of view. Preliminary results concerning the surface electrical properties of these materials are presented, with attention given to the surface charge decay after corona deposition, and the surface behavior under a shock of current up to 50 kA. Since different mixtures are tested with different chemical composition a classification is obtained leading to a selection of product. In order to understand the ionization process at the painting surface they are subjected to electric discharges whose regime is from corona to subnormal. An optical multichannel analyzer is used in the experiment
