Abstract :
The electrochemical, optical, and magnetic properties in poly(arylene vinylene) conducting polymers such as PPV, EtO-PPV, and PNV during electrochemical p-type doping have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, optical-absorption spectrometry, and ESR (electron spin resonance) measurements. The results are discussed in terms of polaron and/or bipolaron models. It is shown that evolution of localized states upon doping is dependent on molecular structure, and successful n-type doping in PNV is suggested. Furthermore, new optical recording techniques utilizing the precursor films of poly(arylenevinylene) conducting polymers have also been proposed
