Abstract :
This paper describes the principle of an high frequency (HF) ground wave over-the-horizon radar (GW-OTHR), presents an overview of the structure of GW-OTHR and gives some experimental results. This radar system operates in short wave band, uses a linear frequency modulated and pseudo-code interrupted continuous wave (FMICW) signal to obtain range resolution and velocity resolution, and utilizes the method of digital beamforming (DBF) to attain aspect resolution. The accomplished experimental results demonstrate that this radar can successfully detect and track an over-the-horizon ship and aircraft
