Abstract :
Representation is developed for the return signal from a point-scatterer target undergoing arbitrary motion during the coherent processing interval. The response of a filter matched to the point target return is calculated for a pulsed waveform and negligible target motion during a single pulse. Target motion during the CPI can then be accounted for by updating the target range on a pulse-by-pulse basis. A further simplification of the matched filter response is achieved by assuming that the radar operates in a range-unambiguous mode. Examples illustrate application of the technique to practical radar design and performance assessment
