Abstract
The FT-IR (Fourier-transform infrared) method and Fisher´s method were used to measure the state and agglomeration of water and the amount of water in several kinds of liquid materials. The liquid dielectrics considered have different properties with regard to water trapping. Using the amount of monomer, dimer, and trimer measured by the FT-IR method under electrical stress the relation between the water in these liquids and conduction is discussed. It is seen that the conduction in several kinds of liquid materials depends on the actual amount of dimer water as if the kinds of liquid dielectrics are different. The trimer may disturb the conduction by the dimer, and the monomer does not influence the conduction phenomena
