  • Abstract
Sampling oscilloscopes based on fast samplers are the common diagnostic instruments for deciphering transient events. By adding a faster sampler and sampling bridge, a sampling oscilloscope will increase its capabilities. However, as the capabilities increase, a major problem arises, that is often referred to as the throughput limitation. Interesting questions follow: such as do we have other choices, and can we circumvent the throughput limitation? We do have a choice. The newly advanced technology on optical fibers provides us a completely novel alternative.
