Abstract :
Custom Power is a concept based on the application of power electronic controllers in distribution systems to supply reliable power. Digital simulation can be a very effective way to evaluate the performance of techniques aimed at mitigating the effects of power quality disturbances. Electromagnetic transients programs (EMTPs) are circuit-oriented tools based on a time-domain solution method that are becoming very popular in modeling and simulation of custom power equipment. In this paper EMTP solution methods and capabilities are reviewed, as well as their application to modeling and simulation of Custom Power solutions
