Abstract :
This paper presents preliminary results of the investigation of the possibility to improve the voltage quality by introducing a coordinated control of electric power system components that exhibit voltage control capabilities. It is believed that the coordination of the controls allows for a partial reduction of the costs associated with the installation of new voltage sag mitigation equipment. Also a numerical proportional-integral-derivative controller tuning technique was developed to address the robustness issue. The validity of the proposed strategy of voltage quality improvement was verified by means of nonlinear EMTDC simulations
