Abstract
In India, every state has its own separate electric utility and despite some transfers of power among the states in each region, and also between regions to a limited extent, each utility is a separate system with its own tariff structure. Therefore, while considering the possible introduction of a peak load pricing structure, the analysis begins based on the load profile of each state system. In this paper, system load curves of select states are studied, mainly to illustrate the kind of problems involved in such an analysis and to highlight the issues involved. The author also attempts to discuss various problems faced by different utilities for implementing the TOD pricing. More detailed studies have to be conducted in each state before introduction of peak load pricing
