Abstract :
To the our best knowledge, this paper presents combination of a rectangular waveguide cavity and closed-end conical coupling probes for characterizing the permittivity of solid material for the first time. The proposed test configuration was designed based on transmission/reflection method to operate at 2.4-2.5 GHz. The design methodology and simulation results are also provided. In order to calculate the value of the permittivity, the well-known Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) conversion technique was adopted. Air and a PTFE sample were used as the material under test to verify the performance of this test configuration. The measurement results are promissing to the reference data. The further study is required to enhance the efficiency of the test figure for supporting the complete analysis of the complex permittivity of solid materials.
