Abstract :
Complex displacements in hydroelectric buildings represent the most important quantities, which define the dam stress behaviour, depending on water lake level and variations of environment temperature. For monitoring the global deformations, the dams are equipped with one or more pendulum wire, which cross the entire height of structure, in different vertical sections. The types of pendulum can be: direct, in this case the anchor point for steel wire is in upper part, and invert, where the anchor point is in foundation rock. The measurement points for pendulum wire positions are situated on different levels of structure. Using the results of the relative displacements, for all that points, the horizontal deformations curves and the dam tilt are obtained. The purpose of this paper is to design a microcontroller system for monitoring the pendulum wire displacements.
