Abstract
British Telecom´s Open Network Architecture for Management (ONA-M) is part of the company´s overall approach to information systems. It´s objective is to develop a consistent approach to the analysis and modelling of communications systems management with an initial focus on models to permit interoperability between the management systems of a number of BT products and services including: Private Circuit Services, Private Network Products, and between internal management systems used for the BT network. The philosophy adopted has been to start with a business oriented analysis of the requirements, and to apply an OSI and OSI management standards based approach to the solution, using OSI/NM forum technical agreements where appropriate
