Abstract
The paper draws attention to the ways in which the introduction of competition in the provision of telecommunication systems and services in the United Kingdom is likely to affect the management, both individually and collectively, of the various networks used to support those services. Attention is drawn to some of the basic principles of interconnection in order to expose the network management implications for provision, operation and maintenance of systems. It is hoped that the paper will form a useful input to the studies of standards for telecommunication management networks
