  • Abstract
There were some the axial surface defects with extremely small openings and the shape like crack on the oxygen pipeline in a company, and they all were difficult to be eliminated. In order to determine whether these defects could be safe, the fatigue test was carried out on 10 steel with real and artificial surface defects. According to the test result, the method by which a notch fatigue crack initiation cycles was estimated, was proposed and the safety analysis of 10 steel was done. The results show that the 10 steel could be safe in the existing conditions. The steel has been used for more than 10 years, so it proves that the evaluation result is correct and safe.
